Economic Indicators

With no major economic reports on today's holiday-shortened schedule, we are running our normal Monday capsule summaries of upcoming economic indicators this morning instead.  Next week’s economic calendar will be over almost before it starts.  There are very few important indicators on the schedule other than Monday’s ISM non-manufacturing survey.  The only other major monthly items are international trade, import prices and Michigan consumer sentiment on Friday. more »

Fed Data Excess reserves rose less than we expected in the latest week, but will continue to rise over the next couple of weeks.  The July Class A MBS settlement date is shaping up to make a major contribution to the level of excess reserves. Separately, the Fed reported a very large increase in foreign official holdings of Treasury securities last week, which is consistent with the surge in indirect competitive awards in the previous week's Treasury coupon auctions. more »
